	“BBPun Emergency Fund” All Magar bandhus and well-wishers from USA are sincerely requested to support Mr. Bir Bahadur Pun Magar, 34, who has been fighting with colon cancer at UCLA Harbor Hospital, Torrance, California. He has been in USA less than 2 years. He does not have health insurance and savings. Therefore, please come forward and help him for his medication and a ticket to return to Nepal before it is too late. He has his family (wife and children) back in Nepal. Contribution of any amount through Langhali Association USA, Inc will be highly appreciated and name of the contributors be published in our website. The date line of this fund-raising program is July 25, 2009 and the raised fund will be handed over to Mr. Pun at the end of July 2009. Wireless Highway in Nepal: A Talk Program in New York City

RUBIN MUSEUM OF ART

Presents: Mr. Mahabir Pun

Bringing Nepal into the 21st century has been Mahabir Pun's objective since he managed to connect his home village to the internet in 1997. The social pioneer talks about his innovative strategies and about the future of Nepal.

Mr. Pun has been recognized by the Ashoka Foundation as one of the people from around the globe who have "innovative solutions to social problems and the potential to change patterns across society". He first dreamed of connecting his village of Nangi to the internet in 1997, and has been working ever since to bring the internet to rural Nepal. He was born in Nangi, and completed his primary education there. After working as a teacher for several years, he completed a master's degree in education at the University of Nebraska at Kearney. Mr. Pun is a recipient of the Overall Social Innovations Award for 2004 by the Global Ideas Bank (aka the Institute for Social Inventions) based in UK and most recently received The Ramon Magsaysay Award of 2007 of the Philippines.

Description of the Event:
4th Anniversary of Langhali Association USA, Inc and Nepali New Year 2065 BS celebration. This program will feature live Dohori Geet with Nepal's most popular duet singer Shila Ale Magar vs. local artist / MC Tika K Pun Magar. Mr. Kranti Ale Magar, who is hottest folk pop singer of Nepal, will perform in New York City for the first time. Local (Magar) artists will join them. Everyone is cordially invited to be part of this fascinating cultural event!

Description of the Event:
Langhali Children between 6-12 years will participate in this Haamro Desh Tour program coordinated by former Peace Corp Volunteer Mr. Adam Swart a.k.a. Bishwas Bahadur Thapa Jhendi Magar. He is currently working as Gallery Guide in Education Department of Rubin Museum of Art (www.rmanyc.org).
